Is Bulgaria

A little while ago Herr Strider spent half the day complaining of the terrible cold in his region. This seemed odd to me as his is a nation the climate of which is capable of growing orange trees. Thinking he was just overreacting, I Googled the temperature of the coldest place in America I could think of (Nome, Alaska) and then checked the temperature of his town so I could say something impressive like "Oh yeah? Well, in Burger-Eating Freedomland it's exactly freeze-the-nuts-off-a-penguin Fahrenheit!"

But instead I was the one who was impressed: in spite of being many miles southward, Bulgaria was literally colder than Nome in early January. And Balto thought the Iditarod serum run was tough, if he'd been running the Stara Planina those villagers could say "Dovizhdane!" to their antitoxin.

Balto: "H-how can you s-stand it out here? Boris said this was a nice vacation destination, but it's f-f-freezing!"
Ludwig: "Is Bulgaria, what you expect? If you are looking for Black Sea resort, dis Boris geeve you wery bad directions."
Balto: "Oh, great..."
Ludwig: "Tiny American baby poodle not survive, he must git good."
Balto: "What's th-that mean? How do I g-git good?"
Ludwig: *Smug, shit-eating grin*
