Purely Perfect Rarity

Well, y'know what they always say; "Nodbody's perfect...except for Princess Rarity of course!"

For those of you folks out there who aren't really all that up to date with the 'Generation III' My Little Ponies, Rarity is the youngest of four Crystal Princesses, who's job it is to create the very first rainbow of the season each new year with the help of their magic wand.

Rarity resides in a place far removed from Ponyville, a place called Unicornia where only unicorns dwell (yup, that's right! No earth ponies, pegasi, breezies...just magic wielding unicorns!)

high atop the lush, majestic mountains of Unicornia sits the Crystal Rainbow Castle that Princess Cheerilee, Princess Whistle Wishes, Princess Brights Brightly, and, of course, Princess Rarity all call their home.

I did get the feeling that she was different from the others. Special, in some way. I mean, she just had that certain je ne sais quoi about her and-- hey, waitaminute! Is that the fabled Rainbow of Light locket I spy on her flank? And this girl can summon rainbows, eh...?

Hmmmn, interesting, very interesting! In the special, I do recall Cheerilee, the most responsible and mature of the princesses say something to Rarity along the lines of; "You were selected from so many other young pink unicorns to be this year's princess."

"This year's princess"? Hold the phone, lady! This kid has to learn how to complete a very important spell, with a very powerful magic wand in like TWO DAYS, to summon forth some crop growing, joy bringing, guardian rainbow of light...and if she screws it up even once there won't even be one for a whole entire year??

Wouldn't it be easier to just have a permanent set of princesses for this kind of thing?

And what's up with Rarity's hasty recruitment? Did the original princess fall ill, or croak, or elope with some handsome stud or something?

And how could she elope if every single pony in all of Ponyland is female?

Does she 'sway that way'?

Why did Constantinople get the works?

And when will this annoying, talking cat quit asking all these dumb questions so that you can eat your steamy pop tarts in blessed silence?
