The Tale of General Klaus and Fraulein Katze

Description

I had always been curious to know how The General might've looked if he had appeared in a Beatrix Potter illustration, and after stumbling upon this image [link] one morning quite by chance, I found that I could no longer ignore the itching temptation. I even sketched the rough outlines of a story to go along with the picture:

This is the story of how a battle-hardened Nazi war bird and a darling little white kitten all the way from America met one another and formed a most peculiar friendship. While the Nazis were cleansing their Vaterland, the animals of Germany, both feral and domestic, were also busy doing their part by driving all the rats from the country as they were good for nothing besides breeding too quickly, chewing holes in walls, stealing grain from barns, terrorizing house wives and small children, spreading diseases such as Typhus, and generally being a nuisance to both man and beast.

The animals even had their own division, the Rattenfänger SS, which was commanded by a highly respectable eagle known simply as General Klaus. Our story begins when news of a secret hideout teeming with rats and linked to smuggling, kidnapping, and black market activity comes to The General's attention one morning...
